FANSA Pause-Reflect-Advance Workshop

The FANSA PRA Workshop, 4-6 December 2024, held at Lumanti Support Group for Shelter, Lalitpur, brought together national chapters from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, alongside external partners, to reflect, strategize, and advance inclusive WASH initiatives across South Asia.
Key Highlights:
Day 1: Reflecting on Achievements
Participants paused to review their journey and acknowledged significant progress in community-driven, safely managed sanitation efforts over the past year. National chapters shared meaningful impacts, challenges, and strategies, focusing on stakeholder consultations, government engagements, and capacity-building trainings.
Day 2: Sharing Stories and Tools
Mr. Ram Krishna, Athena Infonomics, shared findings of the pilot outcome monitoring survey carried in Hetuada, Nepal. And expert Mr. Rajit Ojha, DWSSM, Nepal, offered insights into NWASH-MIS data systems to guide decision-making.
Community leaders from FANSA Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal shared their ground-level experiences, inspiring all with their resilience and solutions.
Sessions, from Athena Infonomics, on institutionalizing R4R achievements, the Equiserve tool, and process documentation highlighted practical ways to strengthen advocacy.
Day 3: Planning for the Future
Key reflection and guidance shared by Roshan Shrestha, BMGF, and all national coordinators highlighted their focused on Year III priorities and opportunities.
Collaboration opportunities were explored through sessions on Nepal’s WASH systems by Mr. Prabhat Shrestha (MoWS) and inclusive sanitation advocacy by Ms. Sudha Shrestha (CWISAN).
Strategies for strengthening WASH systems and enhancing FANSA’s role in South Asia were charted.
